REQUIREMENTS TO
BEGIN DAYCARE

HEALTH & WELLNESS RECORDS/FORMS

Before a dog begins daycare, we require an annual physical, kennel cough (Bordetella) vaccinations every 6 months, Rabies/Distemper (DHPP), a Leptospirosis vaccine *  and a negative fecal test ** no more than 3 weeks before starting daycare.
This information must be provided from your vet's office, along with our intake form (click here) or available at Heatlhy Hounds.

We require fecal results for Giardia and for worms during a dog’s annual physical.

We may also request or require testing during the course of daycare if we deem it necessary,  and reserve the right to refuse entry to any dog for any reason.   Any and all testing is at the customer’s expense.

ONGOING FLEA & TICK PREVENTION

We also require a monthly application to prevent against fleas, tick & mosquitoes.  Not all products repel against mosquitoes but Advantix ii does.  With West Nile virus present, mosquitoes are a very real threat.  In addition, please be sure that your dog is getting a monthly application against parasites.  Sentinel is recommended over Heartgard because it protects against more parasites than Heartgard.

After we meet with you and your dog, our trial period enables us to evaluate your dog's behavior.

*You may opt out of this by signing a decline waiver.  Please consult your vet and click on this word “article”  to read more about vaccine.

** The fecal test we require for intestinal worms, including Giardia, is zinc sulfate floatation/centrifugation as well as a Giardia antigen test.  This is required before entry and during the annual physical.

We may also require testing during the course of daycare if deemed necessary, and reserve the right to refuse entry to any dog for any reason.  Any and all testing is at the customer’s expense.

IMPORTANT... PLEASE HELP US KEEP YOUR DOGS SAFE AND HEALTHY BY FOLLOWING THESE DO'S and DON'TS GUIDELINES.

DO give your dog ample opportunity to FULLY eliminate before arriving at daycare.

Dog waste can transmit disease.

Like many people,  most dogs need to fully eliminate in the morning.

PLEASE give your dog ample opportunity to FULLY eliminate before arriving at daycare.   This  will help us to accomplish our goals of keeping everyone safe & healthy.

DO NOT bring your dog to daycare if he/she has a limp, open sores, or any illness.

DO NOT bring your dog if he or she has had diarrhea within the past 24 hours.

Diarrhea does not necessarily mean that a dog is sick.

However, it can be indicative of some types of illness.  In accordance with our health & wellness goals to keep everyone safe and healthy, please DO NOT bring your dog  if he or she has had diarrhea within the past 24 hours.   Please DO have a plan B in place both in terms of keeping your dog at home and picking him or her up if needed.   We cannot keep dogs who have diarrhea.

Dogs who have had a lapse in daycare of 30 days or more will be considered inactive and required to have negative fecals before resuming.
